This policy explains what information THE 1 (the-1.app) collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
Your workspace data
THE 1 works without an account. Your notes, homework, timetable and revision data are stored locally in your browser on your own device. We do not require your name, email address or any other identifying information to use the app.
Because this data lives on your device, clearing your browser storage or using a different browser or device will mean your workspace is not available there.
AI features
When you use an AI feature such as the AI Tutor or quiz generation, the text you submit — which may include content from the notes you choose to include — is sent to a third-party AI provider in order to generate a response. It is used to produce your answer and is not used by us to build a profile of you. Do not paste sensitive personal information into AI features.
To keep the service available to everyone, we apply a usage limit to AI features. This is enforced using a short-lived signed cookie that records only a request count and a reset time.
Cookies and advertising
THE 1 may display advertising supplied by Google. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings, and you can opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time.
Children
THE 1 is intended for students of secondary school age and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
You can delete your workspace at any time by clearing site data in your browser. Because we do not hold accounts, we generally hold no personal data to export or delete on your behalf. If you have a question about your data, contact us via the contact page.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product changes. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
